and Drumming Regulations
1. Contests will be conducted under the current rules of the Midwest Pipe Band Association (MWPBA). The MWPBA rules are available on request, and via their website, www.mwpba.org. The MWPBA disclaims any and all liability for injury to persons or property related to the related to the events it sanctions. The event sponsor, by accepting sanctioning, agrees to defend, indemnify and hold the MWPBA, its officers and agents, harmless from such liability. This disclaimer will remain in effect in the event of withdrawl of sanctioning by MWPBA for any reason. 2. The Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities disclaims any and all liability for injury to persons or property related to the event. Participants agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities, its officers, agents, and sponsors, harmless from all such liability. Heirs and executors waive and release any all right and claims for damages against the Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities, the MWPBA, agents or representatives for any injuries or loss which may be suffered by attending, participating, or traveling to or from the Celtic Highland Games. 3. MWPBA officials shall have the power to rule on all protests and complaints relating to the competitions of the day. The Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities will defer to the MWPBA officials on all questions regarding such competitions. All protests should be made in writing and lodged with an MWPBA official within 7 days, along with a $10 fee. This fee shall be refunded if the complaint is withheld. 4. Entry fee(s) must accompany entry form and be paid in U.S. funds. Bands must also send their complete competition roster. 5. Bands must be member bands and Soloists must hold individual membership in the MWPBA or in affiliated society or association of the ANAPBA. No late phone or field entries will be accepted. Tenor drummer (adv. and nov.) must enter at the Games prior to the start of the Grade 3 Band contest. 8. Gate passes will be distributed to Pipe Majors for competing members only. Soloists who are not members of a competing band will receive their gate passes with their confirmation of playing times. 9. Proper Highland attire is mandatory for all band and solo performances (with the exception of chanter events.) 10. Soloists shall register with their judge’s steward. A soloist more than 5 minutes late may be disqualified and not “worked in” later, at the discretion of the judges. 11. Soloists may play in only one grade as assigned by their home association. 12. No pets of any kind will be allowed on the Fairgrounds. Participants are subject to other rules and regulations as set by the fairgrounds. No alcoholic beverages may be brought onto the premises. 13. If gate passes are lost or left behind, the band or soloist will be responsible for paying gate admission. 14. To be eligible for travel money, a band must compete, and must participate in the massed bands with at least the competition minimum number of required players. 15.
